Police say a man has been shot dead in Parkes, in NSW's central west, after a dispute over barking dogs.
An 18-year-old man was charged with murder and firearms offences after a 25-year-old man was shot at a house in Porter Street late yesterday.
The injured man was taken to hospital in a critical condition, and later died.
Police claimed the incident was sparked by an argument over the dead man's barking dogs.
NSW Police superintendent Chris Taylor said the two men were "not great friends".
"They did know each and lived in the same street," he said.
"We're not aware of any previous incidents between the two."
Witnesses have told police the 25-year-old armed himself with an axe handle and the accused had an unlicensed firearm.
"There were some more people involved in the lead up to the shooting and that will form part of the evidence that we'll be presenting [in court]," Superintendent Taylor said.
The 18-year-old is due to appear in the Parkes Local Court today.
