Man accused of killing woman in scrambler bike crash in court

A man accused of killing a woman in a scrambler bike crash has appeared in court this afternoon.

Daniel King walked on crutches and had his leg in a cast when he appeared in the dock today.

The 28-year-old is alleged to have killed an unnamed 26-year-old woman in a collision on Court Hey Road in Huyton on March 8.

The case was heard before District Judge Wendy Lloyd at Liverpool Magistrates' Court.

Amie Gouldson prosecuted the case on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service while Clare Roche defended King.

King, of Nimrod Street, Walton, spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address in court.

A legal advisor explained King faced a "number of charges" which include death by dangerous driving and death by driving whilst disqualified.

The charges relate to an incident on Monday, March 1 when a collision involving an off road bike and a pedestrian was reported to police.

In a statement police said the woman was treated for serious injuries and taken to hospital where she later sadly died.

King also faces a charge of driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.

District Judge Lloyd sent the case to Liverpool Crown Court where King will appear on April 16.

He was remanded into custody until that date.
