Darrell Jones, 23, was arrested Sunday after police found his mother, Barbara Crumity, bleeding of blunt force trauma on the living room floor at 7:26 a.m., according to the San Bernardino Police Department. She was taken to an area hospital, where she died several hours later of her injuries.

Initially, Jones reportedly told police that his 52-year-old mother may have been injured in a robbery at her home in the 4400 block of North Sierra Way in San Bernardino.

But homicide detectives determined that no robbery had occurred. Evidence found at the home and at a second location linked Jones to his mother's death, police said.
