Man accused of breaching COVID-19 restrictions to enter WA and watch AFL grand final faces court

A man who allegedly unlawfully entered WA and attended the AFL grand final has indicated he will plead guilty to three charges of failing to comply with police orders.

Wearing a face mask, 32-year-old Caleb Harold Cox today fronted Perth's Magistrates Court via video link from Hakea Prison.

He is accused of entering the state via South Australia and not declaring he had previously been in Victoria.

Mr Cox indicated he would plead guilty to three counts of failing to comply with a direction. There was no indication of how he would plead to another charge of gaining benefit by fraud.

It was his first appearance since September 28 after he was taken into custody.

He will remain behind bars until his next appearance on October 25.
