Man accused of assaulting woman in her Lanarkshire home faces trial

A woman was allegedly assaulted in her East Kilbride home.

Brian Lowe is accused of punching his alleged victim and causing her to fall at a house in Glen Clova, St Leonards, on March 29.

He then allegedly pinned the woman against a door, punched her repeatedly, kicked her, grabbed her by the throat and tried to restrict her breathing.

Lowe, 33, of Loch Brae, Springhill, Glasgow, is also accused of threatening his alleged victim and others, smashing a window with a ceramic jar, banging on a door repeatedly and trying to get back into the property.

Further charges state that he punched a man on the face and tried to punch another woman, knowing she was pregnant.

Lowe is further accused of breaching bail by contacting his alleged victim repeatedly between April 9 and 11.

The prosecution also alleges that he attempted to pervert the course of justice by trying to get her to withdraw a police statement.

Lowe pleaded not guilty to the charges at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.

A trial is due to begin in April.
