Man accidentally electrocuted to death in Markham

A man was fatally electrocuted Wednesday in south suburban Markham.

Andres Matiel, 29, was killed after he had indirect contact with a high voltage power line, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. The incident happened about 1:08 p.m. in the 2000 block of West 167th Street.

An autopsy released Thursday ruled Matiel’s death an accidental electrocution, the medical examiner’s office said.

Markham police have not responded to requests for additional information.
