Man, 89, dies week after Libertyville crash

Hursey eventually went to the hospital and died of complications from the crash, the medical examiner’s office said.

An 89-year-old man died over a week after being involved in a car crash in north suburban Libertyville.

Luster Hursey, of Mundelein, was pronounced dead at 11:47 a.m. on July 6 at Lutheran General Hospital, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was involved in a two-vehicle crash on about 11:45 a.m. May 25 on private property at 200 Lake Street, Libertyville police said in an email. No one was transported to the hospital at the time of the incident.

Hursey eventually went to the hospital and died of complications from the crash, the medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy released Sunday found he died of a brain hemorrhage from the crash, with heart disease and diabetes as contributing factors, the medical examiner’s office said.

Police said the investigation into the crash was re-opened, and was pending further information from the medical examiner’s office.

It was unclear if the other driver was cited. Libertyville police did not immediately respond to a request for additional details.
