Man, 82, dies after being hit by buggy on East Midlands golf course

An 82-year-old man died in hospital after being hit by a buggy on a golf course.

Thomas Collins, who was known as Roy, was struck at the Rutland Water Golf Course on June 18.

He was pronounced dead at the University Hospital in Coventry four days after the incident, Leicestershire Live reported.

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: “We were made aware of a collision between a man and golf buggy at the Rutland Water Golf Course in Rutland on Tuesday June 18.

“The man was taken to hospital after the collision.

“There has been no further police involvement.”

A spokeswoman for the Rutland and North Leicestershire Coroner said that Mr Collins died in hospital.

She said: “He was pronounced dead at the University Hospital in Coventry on June 22.

“An inquest into Mr Collins’ death has been opened and adjourned.”

No date has yet been set for the full inquest.
