A man was critically injured by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday morning in Edgewater.

The 77-year-old was struck by a vehicle about 5:55 a.m. in the 6000 block of North Ravenswood Avenue, according to Chicago police.

Paramedics took the man to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

A police spokesperson could not immediately offer details about the wanted vehicle or driver.

The Chicago police major accidents team is investigating.
