Man, 75, 'stabbed in throat' outside church as police hunt 'knifeman'

Police are hunting a knifeman after a man was stabbed in the throat outside a church in France, according to reports.

The victim was said to have collapsed in a pool of blood after the attack in the centre of Montpellier at 11.30am.

The man was found on a road near the Saint-Roch church and is believed to be in hospital in a critical condition.

Local reports said he had a deep wound to his neck.

Numerous traces of blood were seen on the streets and on walls, Actu.fr reported, and detectives are taking samples to investigate.

Police are not treating the incident as a terrorist attack at this time, reports say.
