Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who seriously injured a 73-year-old man Thursday in west suburban Geneva.

Witnesses saw the man walking across the road about 8:50 p.m. in the 400 block of West State Street when a westbound SUV hit him, according to a statement from Geneva police.

First responders found the man unconscious in the road with serious injuries, police said. He was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva before being airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

The SUV continued west on State and was last seen turning north onto Fifth Street, police said. Witnesses told investigators it may have been a light-colored Cadillac Escalade.

The hit-and-run remains under investigation by Geneva police and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team. Anyone with information is asked to call 630-232-4736.
