A 71-year-old man died after being struck by a car Thursday morning in Geneva in the west suburbs.

He was walking across West State Street at Bricher Road, just east of a crosswalk, about 7:45 a.m. when he was hit by a Toyota Yaris, according to a statement from Geneva police.

The 71-year-old St. Charles man was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Authorities have not released his name.

The driver of the Toyota, a 63-year-old DeKalb man, told investigators he did not see the pedestrian in the early morning sunlight, police said.

No charges have been filed.
