A man in his 70s is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering serious head and spinal injuries during a late night attack in Dubin.
Gardai in Mountjoy are investigating the serious assault which took place at 2am on Saturday 17 August at Courtney Place, Ballybough.
The elderly man was taken to The Mater Hospital following the attack where he remains in a critical condition.
The scene is currently being preserved and a Garda Technical examination is due to be carried out.
A spokeswoman for the Gardai said that they are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who can assist Gardai in the investigation to contact Mountjoy Garda Station on 01 - 6668601.
