A 68-year-old man died Friday after he was hit by a vehicle near his home in northwest suburban Hanover Park.

The man was struck by the vehicle just before 9 p.m. at the intersection of Barrington Road and Bristol Lane, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead about half an hour later.

The 68-year-old lived on the same block where he was hit, the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy Saturday ruled his death an accident, saying he died of blunt force injuries from being hit by a vehicle.

Hanover Park did not immediately respond to a request for details.
