Man, 64, battered in street and left with broken hip after asking woman to move her car

A man has been seriously assaulted after asking a woman to move her car in Irvine.

The 64-year-old was rushed to hospital with a broken hip after the brutal attack in the Ayshire town on Monday, June 1.

He was confronted by a male at around 1.30pm on Monday after asking a woman to move her purple Skoda vehicle.

The victim was complaining about the car blocking a driveway when he was punched by a man.

The incident happened outside a flat within the East Road car park, near to an Aldi supermarket.

Police have now launched a manhunt for the suspect who is described as in his fifties.

Detective Sergeant Peter Sweeney, of Saltcoats CID, said: "We're appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident to contact us.

"Similarly anyone who was travelling along East Road around 1.30pm on Monday and has dash cam footage, please contact us."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 1851 of 1 June or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
