Man, 62, kicked in the stomach and has large amount of money stolen during brutal robbery in Barry

A 62-year-old man was kicked in the stomach during a lunchtime robbery in Barry town centre.

Police said an envelope containing a large amount of cash was stolen from his back pocket during the attack.

The victim was walking in a lane between Lombard Street and Regent Street at around 1.25pm on Thursday (June 25) when he was attacked.

Police said that as he turned around to confront the robber, he was kicked in the stomach which caused him "significant pain".

The person responsible is described as being 18 to 20 years-old, approximately 5ft 10ins with a slim build, and of Asian appearance, wearing black face mask, a dark ‘NY’ baseball cap, dark T shirt and jeans.
