Man, 62, dies and another in critical condition after multi-vehicle crash in Salford

A man has died after a multi-vehicle crash in Salford.

The crash, which involved a lorry and two cars, happened on the A57 Cadishead Way in Irlam at around 11.30am on June 23.

A 62-year-old man and 39-year-old man were both taken to hospital from the scene.

Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the 62-year-old man has sadly died of his injuries.

The 39-year-old man remains in a critical condition, police said.

The driver of the lorry remained at the scene to assist officers and no arrests have been made.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information about the crash and are urging any witnesses to come forward.

Police Constable Karl Horner of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Very sadly a man has lost his life following this collision and our thoughts are firmly with his family, friends and loved ones as they begin to process this devastating news.

"We're continuing to appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time or witnessed the collision to come forward and speak with police.

"We're particularly keen to speak to anyone who may be in possession of dash-cam footage from the area at the time of the incident."
