Man, 60s, tragically dies and 12-year-old boy injured after single car crash near Mulranny, Co Mayo

A man tragically died after a single vehicle crash in Co Mayo on Sunday evening.

The man, 60s, was pronounced at the scene on the N59 near Mulranny.

A boy, 12, who was a passenger in the car, was rushed to Mayo University Hospital with minor injuries after the collision.

Gardai have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

A garda spokesman: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on the N59 near Mulranny, Co. Mayo, on 31/03/19 at approximately 7pm.

"The driver, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His remains were removed to the Mortuary at Mayo University Hospital.

"A Garda technical examination of the scene is due to take place today, 01/04/19.

"The road remains closed at the scene and local diversions are in place."

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information in relation to this incident to contact Westport Garda Station on 098 50237.
