Man, 60s, raced to hospital with critical injuries following assault in Newbridge

A man in his 60s is fighting for his life after he was seriously assaulted in Newbridge yesterday evening.

The man was attacked in a house in the Moore Park area at around 9pm.

He was rushed to Naas General Hospital following the incident, with his condition described as critical.

The scene is currently preserved by gardai and a full technical examination is being carried out.

No arrests have been made but gardai say they are following a definite line of enquiry and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí are also appealing to anyone who was in the Moore Park area, Newbridge yesterday evening between the hours of 8.30pm and 9.30pm, including any road users who may have camera (dash-cam) footage to contact Gardaí.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Newbridge Garda Station on 045 431 212, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
