Man, 60s, fighting for his life after being struck by Luas at Carrickmines, Dublin

A man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after he was struck by a Luas in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man, who is in his 60s, was raced to St Vincent's Hospital after he was hit by the tram on the Ballyogan Road, Carrickmines at around 1am.

Emergency services attended the scene with Dublin Fire Brigade saying they were attending a "serious incident".

The Ballyogan Wood Luas stop remains closed this morning while gardai carry out a technical examination, Dublin Live reports.

Luas officials said: "Green Line services are operating from Broombridge – The Gallops only.

"There is no service operating between Brides Glen - The Gallops. A replacement bus service is serving the affected stops."

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live investigations into the incident are ongoing.

He said: "Gardaí are investigating after a man in his 60s was struck by a Luas on the Ballyogan Road, Carrickmines in the early hours of this morning Sunday 12th April 2020.

"The man was taken to St Vincent's University Hospital in a critical condition. The Ballyogan Wood Luas Stop is currently closed for technical examination."
