Man, 58, dies after incident at Atlantic Recycling Plant in Cardiff

A man, 58, has died following an incident at a recycling plant in Cardiff .

South Wales Police confirmed the man, from Barry , has died after an incident at Atlantic Waste Recycling Plant in Rumney on Wednesday, September 4.

Emergency services attended the site in Mardy Road at around 4.30pm after reports of a collision between a worker and a plant vehicle.

The man’s family and the coroner have been informed.

Officers confirmed an investigation is now being carried out by South Wales Police with the Health and Safety Executive.

A Health and Safety Executive spokeswoman said: "HSE is aware of the incident and making preliminary inquiries."

Atlantic Recycling's company director, David Neal, said: “We can confirm that there was a serious accident on the Atlantic site at approximately 4pm on Wednesday, September 4.

“There is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the HSE so it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”

The company is expected to release a further statement later today.

No arrests have been made in relation to the incident.
