Man (57) found dead following frantic overnight search on Scots mountainside

A 57-year-old man has died after a desperate search on Ben More, near Crianlarich.

Police and mountain rescue teams had been searching for the man since he was reported missing on Wednesday evening.

Volunteers from Killin Mountain Rescue Team and Lomond Mountain Rescue Team were drafted in to assist in the frantic search for the man.

The search also included search dogs as well as the police and the Coastguard search and rescue helicopters.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "The body of a 57-year-old man has been recovered following a search of the Ben More area.

"The man had been reported missing on the evening of Wednesday, March 24, and relatives are aware.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

It's understood the man's body was found on a steep slope at around 3pm on Thursday.

The mountain rescue teams faced tough wintry conditions as the search for the man was conducted.

Bill Rose, of Killin MRT, said: "We tried so hard to find him. Condolences to his family."
