Man, 57, fighting for life after horror crash in Oldham

A man is fighting for his life after a horror crash in Oldham.

The 57-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital following the incident on Burnley Lane in Chadderton.

Police were called to reports of a collision between a grey Vauxhall Antara and a black Mercedes E200, near the junction with Parkway, at about 8.30pm on Friday.

The driver of the Mercedes was not hurt, but the 57-year-old man was rushed to hospital.

The Mercedes driver stopped at the scene and assisted officers.

"This collision happened on a busy stretch of road so I am hoping there will be a number of witnesses that can assist with our enquiries." (Manchester Evening News)

Anyone with information is being asked to contact police.

Police Constable Phil Drummond, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "The driver of the Vauxhall remains in a critical condition and we have specially trained officers supporting his family at this difficult time.

"This collision happened on a busy stretch of road so I am hoping there will be a number of witnesses that can assist with our enquiries.

"If you witnessed the incident or have any CCTV or dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation, please get in touch."
