A man and a woman have been arrested in north London on suspicion of terror offences, Scotland Yard said.

Officers arrested a 57-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman at an address in north London on Friday.

The man was arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of terrorist acts contrary to section five of the Terrorism Act 2006.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of possessing money or property for the purposes of terrorism contrary to section 16 of Terrorism Act 2000.

The pair, who were arrested as part of an investigation by the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command, were detained under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.

They have been taken to a south London police station where they remain in custody.

Officers are searching the address in north London and are also searching an address in Luton.
