A 54-year-old man died a day after being injured in a chain reaction crash Friday morning on Interstate 90 near northwest suburban Des Plaines.
About 8 a.m., a white semitrailer was driving west on I-90 when it struck a Jeep Patriot that was stopped in heavy traffic, according to a statement from Illinois State Police. The impact caused the Jeep to collide with two other vehicles.
The Jeep’s driver, Andrew Szimon, was rushed to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead at 10 a.m. Saturday, according to state police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Szimon was the only person injured in the crash, state police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
