Man, 54, dies in truck crash near Jugiong on Friday

A man died near Jugiong on the Hume Highway on Friday night after the truck he was driving crashed into a road safety railing.

Police have launched an investigation into the crash.

Just before 10.30pm, the 54-year-old was driving north along the road when the truck, towing a semi-trailer, crashed into a railing, swerved across the road and rolled onto its side in the central median strip after hitting several small trees.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the truck, died at the scene, about 90 kilometres north-west of Canberra.

Hume police district officers attended alongside NSW Ambulance paramedics, the State Emergency Service, Rural Fire Service and NSW Fire and Rescue.

A crime scene was established and a brief will be prepared for the coroner, NSW police said in a statement on Saturday morning.
