Police are appealing for information after a man sustained serious head, neck and leg injuries during an assault at a house in Motherwell.
The incident happened yesterday around 11.50pm at a property in McClurg Court.
The 52-year-old was taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital, where his condition is currently described as serious but stable.
Officers are eager to speak to a person who was seen in the area at the time.
They are described as white, 5ft 8ins, medium build and wearing dark coloured Adidas track suit bottoms with three stripes down the leg, a dark hoodie, a hat and white trainers and a face mask.
Detective Inspector Kenneth Dalrymple said: “We are appealing for information so that we can establish the full circumstances of what happened.
"We would like to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious or may have dash-cam footage that could help with our enquiries. In particular we would like to speak to the person seen in the area at the time who may be able to help with our investigation.
