Man, 50s, rushed to hospital after Christmas Day fire at home in Carrigaline, Co Cork

A man was rushed to hospital after a fire at a home in the early hours of Christmas Day.

The man, in his 50s, was hospitalised after the house fire in the Lios Rua area of Carrigaline, Co Cork.

Emergency services attended the scene of the blaze shortly after 2am.

The man was taken in an ambulance to Cork University Hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A garda spokesman told the Irish Mirror: "On Wednesday 25/12/2019 shortly after 2am Gardaí and Fire Services attended at the scene of a fire at a house in Carrigaline, Co Cork.

"A man understood to be in his late 50s was taken from the scene by ambulance to hospital with non life threatening injuries. The scene has been examined and enquiries are ongoing."
