Man, 50, stabbed in east London high street ‘robbery’

A robbery victim was stabbed and assaulted in an east London high street.

The 50-year-old victim was found suffering a knife wound by police after being attacked at 8.20pm on Sunday in Ben Jonson Road, Stepney.

He was taken to hospital where his injury was declared not life-threatening.

Detectives believe the man may have been knifed during a suspected robbery.

A Met spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of a man with a stab injury on Ben Jonson Road in Tower Hamlets.

“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended.

“The 50-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment; his injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
