A body found in the Des Plaines River Sunday is believed to be that of a 50-year-old man who went missing from suburban Deerfield.

Raj Rawal, who’s family said he was recently showing signs of depression, was last seen leaving his home in the 300 block of Inverrary Lane in Unincorporated Deerfield on his bicycle, according to a missing persons alert from Lake County sheriffs.

Officers were able to locate his bicycle and cell phone along the shoreline of the Des Plaines River Trail, but were unable to find him, police said.

Police canceled the missing persons alert about 8:30 p.m. Sunday stating a body was found in the Des Plaines River, in the area of the 2100 block of Riverwalk Drive in Buffalo Grove, “that they believe to be the missing person.”

No foul play is suspected, police said.
