A 50-year-old man has died after falling from a bridge on the A449 near Newport.
The A449 southbound was shut from around 8am as police and paramedics were called to the scene after it was reported that a man had fallen from a bridge.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: "We received a call at 8am this morning, Thursday 9th April, reporting that a man had fallen from a bridge on the A449, near the Coldra in Newport.
"The man, aged 50, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics as a result of his injuries. His family have been informed."
The A499 reopened around an hour after the incident was reported.
