Victoria Park attack: Man assaulted by stranger while out running

Police are hunting a man who assaulted a stranger out for an early morning run in the Whiteinch area.

The 50-year-old victim was out running in Victoria Park on Wednesday, December 9 when he was targeted.

The runner became involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown man around 7.40am.

While running next to the pond a short time later, he was physically assaulted by the same man who ran off.

The runner wasn't injured and didn't need any medical attention.

The suspect is described as being a white man in his thirties, around 6ft tall and at the time of the incident was wearing dark clothing.

He was with a white woman who was also in dark clothing and a large dog with a blue flashing collar.

Officers are looking to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or know the man involved.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 0487 of 9 December, or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
