A 49-year-old man was shot to death Sunday in northwest Indiana.
About 1:18 a.m., authorities were dispatched to East 5th Avenue and Ohio Street in Gary, the Lake County coroner’s office said. They found Ervin Pirtle with multiple gunshot wounds at the scene.
He was pronounced dead about 1:52 a.m., the coroner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.
Gary police didn’t immediately respond to a request for additional information.
