A 49-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a baby boy, police have said.
Officers were called to reports of the seven-week-old child suffering a cardiac arrest at an address in Derwent Street in Stoke-on-Trent before 9pm on November 26.
The child was taken to hospital where he died a few hours later, Staffordshire Police added.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a post mortem will take place.
The two suspects remain in custody.
