Man, 48, charged with attempted murder in Edinburgh

A man has been arrested and charged with an alleged attempted murder in the Capital.

Police Scotland confirmed a 48-year-old was held in connection with an incident in the Marine Drive area on Saturday evening.

Officers were seen combing an area near Silverknowes Golf Course with the help of police search dogs on Sunday morning following the alleged incident, which also involved a 36-year-old man.

A cordon remains in place as police continue their investigation.

The 48-year-old is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

Detective Inspector Jonathan Pleasance, of Corstorphine CID, said: “A 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged attempted murder of a 36-year-old man in the Marine Drive area of Edinburgh on Saturday, 9 May, 2020.

“He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 11 May, 2020. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
