Man, 48, appears in court charged with murder after human remains found at Reddish Vale Country Park

A man has appeared in court charged with murder.

Thomas McCann, 48, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address during a brief appearance at Manchester and Stockport Magistrates Court this morning.

McCann, of Rosslave Walk, Brinnington, wore a grey tracksuit and appeared in front of a district judge from behind a closed dock in Court 10.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Manchester Crown Square Crown Court on Tuesday June 2.

The charge follows the discovery of human remains at a beauty spot in Stockport.

At around 10.30am on Monday 25 May 2020, police were called to reports that a member of the public had found human remains in Reddish Vale Country Park.

Greater Manchester Police said: “Enquiries have led officers to believe that the remains belong to a woman in her 40s.

“Her next of kin have been informed but formal identification has not yet taken place.”
