A 47-year-old man has been charged with two counts of murder over the deaths of two elderly people in Capel, in Western Australia's South West region.

Officers were called to a home on Berkshire Street about 8:15am on Friday, where they found a 74-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man dead inside.

Homicide squad detectives and forensics officers have spent the past two days examining the home.

Police said a 47-year-old man was also found in the home with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Bunbury Hospital for treatment.

The man has been charged with two counts of murder and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday via video link from Bunbury.

Police said the elderly man and woman were known to the 47-year-old man.
