Man, 47, arrested on suspicion of murder after victim, 31, found dead 'with stab wounds' in Twickenham

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a fatal stabbing in south-west London.

The Metropolitan Police said it was called to Ellerman Avenue in Twickenham, Richmond upon Thames on Saturday at 11.39pm.

The victim, 31, was found with stab wounds and pronounced dead at the scene, Scotland Yard said in a statement.

The suspect, 47, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at a nearby police station.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, who is leading the investigation from the Met's Specialist Crime Command, said: "A team of detectives are working to piece together the circumstances that resulted in this tragic incident.

“Our thoughts are with the victim's family at this difficult time.

"Officers will remain in the area throughout the day as they carry out further enquiries and gather evidence.”
