Man, 46, rushed to hospital in 'critical condition' after assault at apartment in Kilkenny

A 46-year-old man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after he was assaulted at an apartment in Kilkenny this morning.

The shocking incident happened at approximately 4am at a premises on the Castlecomer Road.

Emergency services also attended the scene and the injured man was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital where he is believed to be a critical condition.

A garda spokesperson said: "A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested in relation to this incident by investigating Gardaí.

"He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 in Kilkenny Garda Station.

"The scene is preserved for a technical examination and Gas House Lane is currently closed off. The investigation is ongoing. No further information is available at this time."
