Man, 45, arrested in connection with fatal early morning North Strand stabbing

A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Dublin early this morning.

At around 4am, a man aged 45 was stabbed to death in the Clinchs Court area of North Strand.

A man, also aged 45, has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently detained at Mountjoy Garda Station.

There will also be a post mortem taking place later today.

Gardai continue to appeal for witnesses to incident who may have been in the area between 3.30am and 4.15am.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of a man (45 years of age) that occurred at approximately 4am this morning, Friday 19th July, 2019 at Clinchs Court, North Strand, Dublin 1 have arrested a man (45 years of age).

"The arrest was made this morning and he is currently detained at Mountjoy Garda Station under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

"The post mortem is due to take place later today by Dr. Margaret Bolster, State Pathologist.

"The scene remains preserved and the technical bureau are currently at scene.

"Gardaí are appealing to any persons who may have been in the area between 3.30a.m. and 4.15a.m. or any passing taxis with dash cam footage to contact Mountjoy Garda Station on 01.6668600, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
