Man, 44, taken to hospital after serious assault on Tollcross Road

A man was taken to hospital after being seriously assaulted last night in the Tollcross Road area of Glasgow.

Areas surrounding Tollcross park and Wellshot Road were cordoned off by police overnight.

At around 1.30am, officers were called to the park after reports of a serious assault.

The man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with "serious" but not life threatening injuries.

Police say enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.30am, officers received a report that a 44-year-old man had been seriously assaulted in the Tollcross Road area of Glasgow.

"The man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
