Man, 42, killed after being struck by silver Skoda Octavia on Prestwick Loop Road

A man has died after being struck by a car on the A79 Prestwick Loop Road late last night.

The victim, 42, was hit by the silver Skoda Octavia travelling south on the A79.

Emergency services attended, however the man sadly died at the scene.

The driver of the car was uninjured, but has been left badly shaken by the incident.

Police are now appearling for any relevant CCTV footage and additional information that could help with their investigation.

The road was closed for several hours as collision investigators conducted enquiries at the scene.

Sergeant Scott Sutherland, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Department, said: “Our enquiries so far have established an Audi motor car was on the road at the time of the incident, however, the driver may not have realised a collision has occurred.

"I am appealing to the driver of that car to contact us as we work to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

“In particular, if any motorists have dash cam devices, please check your footage as it could assist our investigation. Any small piece of information is relevant to our inquiry.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 4261 of 13 August, 2021.
