Man, 42, jailed for anti-social behaviour in Nottinghamshire town

A man has been jailed after breaching an order imposed on him to stop anti-social behaviour in a Nottinghamshire town.

Lee Bowman, 42, of no fixed address, breached a criminal behaviour order imposed on him in June 2018.

Under the conditions, he is prohibited from using threatening, intimidating, insulting, or abusive words or behaviour in any public place in Ollerton or Boughton, Nottinghamshire.

He is also prevented from entering Forest Road, Ollerton, including the Tesco store and car park and Asda store and car park.

On August 9, he was sentenced at Mansfield Magistrates' Court to six weeks for breach of his criminal behaviour order and he was given a 12-week suspended sentence activated from a previous hearing.

Councillor David Lloyd, leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “We continue to work with the police to target those who commit anti-social behaviour in the district and this case in Ollerton serves to demonstrate that we will not tolerate behaviour by individuals that causes alarm and distress.

“A significant amount of work takes place prior to a criminal behaviour order being secured at court to give offenders are given the opportunity to address their issues.

"For those who decline the support or continue to behave in a way that is unacceptable and in a manner that impacts on others, we will take the necessary action to bring them back to court where the persistent offending is dealt with accordingly.”

Inspector Heather Sutton, district commander for Newark and Sherwood Police, said: “We will not tolerate anti-social behaviour in our areas.

"Mr Bowman was issued his criminal behaviour order over a year ago and has continued with his behaviour.

"Eighteen weeks is quite a sentence and shows the power that the authorities have to reduce anti-social behaviour.”

Currently there are 11 men and women in Newark and Sherwood district of Nottinghamshire who are the subject of outstanding criminal behaviour orders.
