A man in his 40s remains in hospital in serious condition following a shooting in Lucan, west Dublin earlier today.
He was rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown after a car he was sitting in was fired at just after lunchtime at 1.50pm on Elm Green in the Griffeen Glen Park area.
The victim is believed to have been hit in the body, head and arms as bullets were sprayed at the vehicle. He is understood to be known to gardai.
A burnt out car was found near the scene and is suspected to have been used as a getaway vehicle.
Up to 10 bullets are believed to have been fired as the victim sat in a Toyota 4x4 in the estate.

The scene of the shooting is only yards from where Mark ‘Guinea Pig’ Desmond was shot three years ago.
Gardai remain on the scene this evening with investigations ongoing.
A garda spokeswoman said earlier today: "Gardaí in Lucan are currently at scene of a shooting incident that occurred at Griffeen Glen Park, Lucan this afternoon Wednesday 4th September, 2019 at 1.50p.m.

"A man (early 40s) was shot a number of times while in his car. He has been removed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown in a serious condition.
"The road is currently closed and scene preserved. Investigations ongoing."
