Man, 40s, killed after horror crash on busy Tipperary road

A man has died after a collision between a van and a lorry in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened on the N24 at Ballynoran, Co Tipperary at around 7.25am on Monday.

The driver of the van, a man in his 40s, was killed in the horror crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man his 60s who was driving the lorry was brought to Waterford University Hospital with serious injuries.

The road is currently closed while Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene. Local diversions are currently in place.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have any information in relation to the collision, to come forward.

"Gardaí are appealing to any road users who were travelling on the N24 between Kilsheelan and Carrick-On-Suir between 07.20am and 07.30am this morning to contact them.

"Anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) should make it available to Gardaí. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052 6177640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
