Man, 40s, hospitalised following assault in Clontarf

A man in his 40s was hospitalised following an assault in Clontarf yesterday.

Gardai were called to the historic coastal suburb at around 10pm last night to the scene on Castle Avenue.

The man's injuries were thankfully not life threatening, and another man in his 30s was arrested.

He was taken to Clontarf garda station, and the investigation is ongoing.

A garda spokesman said: "At approximately 10:00pm 15th May 2020 Gardaí attended the scene of an incident of assault at Castle Avenue, Clontarf, Co. Dublin.

"A male in his 40’s was taken to the Mater Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"A male in his 30’s was arrested and conveyed to Clontarf Garda Station.  Investigation is ongoing."

Last week, a teenager was held at knife point and robbed outside Mount Temple School.

The 16-year-old, whose mother has launched an appeal on social media to find his stolen items, was approached by two males on Thursday, May 7.
