Man, 38, hospitalised after assault in the middle of a residential street in Cardiff

A 38-year-old man has been hospitalised after a daylight assault in a residential area.

Officers called to reports of an assault on the junction of Monthermer Road with Gwennyth Street, Cardiff, around 11am on Monday, September 13.

The man reportedly sustained "serious injuries" in the assault and was taken to University Hospital Wales for treatment. South Wales Police said he is now recovering.

Police are now urging witnesses, or anyone with information, to come forward.

A statement from a police spokesperson said: "South Wales Police is appealing for information on a reported assault that happened at around 11am on Monday, 13th September on the junction of Monthermer Road with Gwennyth Street, Cardiff.

"The victim sustained some serious injuries but has since received treatment for these and is recovering.

"If anyone witnessed what happened, has any dashcam footage, or information on what may have happened, they are urged to contact police quoting reference *323219."

A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We were called at approximately 11.10am on 13 September to reports a person had been assaulted in the Clun Terrace area of Cardiff. We organised transport for the patient, who was taken to the University Hospital of Wales.”
