A 36-year-old man who was airlifted to hospital yesterday after falling off a building in the middle of Warrington has died.
The tragic news was confirmed this afternoon following the incident on Wednesday in Palmyra Square, close to the town hall.
Police said the man had travelled to Warrington from the Staffordshire Moorlands area.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police confirmed: "A man who fell from a building in Palmyra Square, Warrington, on the morning of Wednesday, February 24, has sadly died.
"He was taken to Aintree Hospital but died this afternoon, February 25.
"The man has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be a 36-year-old man from the Staffordshire Moorlands area.
"His family are being supported by officers and a joint investigation is underway with police and the Health and Safety Executive."
At about 11.15am, yesterday, police were called to a building site in Palmyra Square following reports of a man having fallen from a building.
The casualty was taken to Aintree Hospital in a serious condition.
A large police presence was called to the area, with the air ambulance landing outside Warrington Town Hall.
The building is currently being converted into new flats.
