Man, 35, seriously injured after being stabbed during 'confrontation with a number of people'

Police are investigating after a man was stabbed 'during a confrontation with a number of people'.

Officers were called to Pedder Street, in Bolton, at around 1am on Friday (New Year's Day).

Enquiries have revealed that a 35-year-old man was stabbed close to the junction with Chorley Old Road.

The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, however the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A small section of Pedder Street was cordoned off by police on Friday morning.

No arrests have yet been made and enquiries are ongoing.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at around 1am on Friday 1 January 2021 to a report of a stabbing.

"A man aged 35 was taken to hospital with serious injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

"Enquiries have established that the man was stabbed during a confrontation with a number of people close to the junction of Pedder Street and Chorley Old Road, Bolton.

"No arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing."
