Man, 35, found with instructions on bomb making and committing acts of terrorism

A man from Merseyside was found in possession of a document used by terrorists to commit atrocities.

Scott Gary Mason from Rainhill in St Helens appeared at the Old Bailey from HMP Forest Bank in Salford, reports the BBC.

The 35-year-old was charged with possessing a document for terrorist purposes on or before October 6.

Mason pleaded guilty to having an electronic copy of the Anarchist Cookbook, a guide that includes instructions on how to make bombs and preparing for acts of terrorism.

He will be sentenced on January 14.

Mr Justice Sweeney ordered a pre-sentence report to look into the issue of the danger Mason possessed in light of the discovery.

He was further remanded into custody.

In the UK, possessing the book - not necessarily illegal itself - has often been used as evidence in terrorism cases.
